Transfer data to a new device with Quick Start
Use Quick Start to transfer data from your current device to a new device.
Complete the move in the sequence documented by Apple.
Start with your current device on Wi-Fi, Bluetooth turned on, and both devices able to stay powered and near each other.

How to do it

Prepare your current device
Connect the current device to Wi-Fi, turn on Bluetooth, unlock it, and leave it on the Home Screen.

Start the new device nearby
Turn on the new device near the current device and follow the Quick Start prompts to begin setup.

Choose the transfer method
Connect the new device to Wi-Fi or cellular, continue through Face ID or Touch ID setup, and choose to transfer data from the current device.

Wait for transfer to finish
Keep both devices connected to power and near each other until transfer finishes, then confirm setup completes on the new device.
You are done when setup and data transfer finish on the new device and you can reach the Home Screen.
Keep both devices near each other and connected to power until transfer completes. Managed devices enrolled in Apple School Manager or Apple Business Manager may not support this transfer path.
